Twinlab CBD+ FAQ
The hemp plant contains over 500 phytocompounds of which roughly 100 are considered to be phytocannabinoids (‘Phyto’ meaning originating from plant). The most prevalent phytocannabinoid that is found in the hemp plant is Cannabidiol (CBD).
Our Endocannabinoid System produces and interacts with endocannabinoids to regulate important body functions. Since our body creates its own cannabinoids, a supplementary addition of external plant cannabinoids or phytocannabinoids (of which CBD is one) is beneficial in decelerating the breakdown of these cannabinoids for prolonged usage in maintaining said body systems.*
Endocannabinoids are a diverse class of innately-produced compounds that are broken down and used by the Endocannabinoid System to regulate and maintain the homeostasis of integral body functions.* Phytocannabinoids are plant cannabinoids found in an array of different plants like hemp, basil, oregano, etc.
The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is a network of receptors located in the brain and throughout the nervous system; it is the body’s way of maintaining and regulating the homeostasis of crucial body functions. The system of CB1 and CB2 receptors functions primarily to interact with endocannabinoids to regulate integral body functions like appetite, digestion, pain modulation, sleep and stress tolerance.
These receptors, called cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) and cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2), can be found throughout the brain and nervous system and determine the behavioral effects of cannabinoids when consumed, as well as the effects of your body’s own endocannabinoids.
The ‘entourage effect’ refers to the full-bodied experience that occurs when phytocannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids and other compounds work synergistically to magnify the intended effects – as opposed to just one or two of these compounds working in isolation.
“Full-spectrum hemp extract” is a term that refers to hemp extract that contains all the phytocompounds (cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids) naturally found within the hemp plant. Instead of CBD working in isolation, the complete array of phytocompounds works synergistically to transcend the health benefits of CBD isolate.§
Prior to December 2018, hemp was restricted due to the Controlled Substances Act. This classification left the US in the dark ages for 80 years with respect to industrial hemp cultivation, commercialization, and consumption, while Europe was enlightened to its many health benefits. Our science, formulation, quality assurance and legal team chose to use EU Commission Certified and EU Certified Organic strains and seeds of industrial hemp that have an established history of use in humans for decades. Our strains are Bialobrzeskie, Beniko, Finola, and Wojko and can be found on the EU Commission Certified Seed Bank
There are several different sources of external cannabinoids. However, the hemp plant is widely considered to be the best source of natural external cannabinoids. While hemp is often associated with marijuana because of its ties to the same species of plant (Cannabis sativa), they are not one and the same. The difference between hemp and marijuana lies in its appearance, function, cultivation and application. The most dominant phytocannabinoid in the hemp plant is CBD. On the other hand, the most dominant phytocannabinoid in marijuana is THC – the compound that produces a psychoactive high.
No. Since our phytocannabinoid blend comes from hemp, and our hemp contains less than 0.3% THC concentration – the compound that gives you a psychoactive high – there is no high resulting from the consumption of Twinlab® CBD+.
No. Twinlab® CBD+ products come from the hemp plant, not the marijuana plant. While hemp and marijuana are often associated because they come from the same species (albeit different varieties), they are not one the same. The difference between hemp and marijuana lies in the appearance, function, cultivation and application. Moreover, by law, hemp products have no more than 0.3% concentration of THC – the compound that causes the psychoactive high experienced in marijuana.
Due to the trace amounts of THC (less than 0.3%), it is highly improbable (but not impossible) that someone taking Twinlab® CBD+ would test positive on a drug test.
Twinlab® CBD+ is not vegan. No gluten containing ingredients have been included in the formulations, but they have not been tested for the presence of any residual gluten.
No, a medical card or doctor’s prescription is not needed.
We use a solvent-free, clean, CO2 extraction yielding the highest quality of phytocannabinoids.
It is extremely unlikely that someone would overdose on CBD. In research, fairly high doses of phytocannabinoids (100’s of milligrams) have been used without adverse effects. However, it is recommended that you stick to the directions regarding dosing, to optimize safety and efficacy.
Generally, Twinlab® CBD+ products are well-tolerated and considered safe. As with any other supplement, there might be a chance that some have an adverse reaction with the introduction of new ingredients that work internally. Always consult your doctor before taking a new supplement, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, taking any medications, or suspect a medical condition.
Each of the Twinlab® CBD+ products is formulated for specific benefits and purposes: Twinlab® CBD+ Daily can be taken once a day. Stress, Sleep and Relief can also be taken daily.
Twinlab® chose to put QR codes on their bottles so the consumer can easily access our 3rd party testing and hemp seed DNA data with a click of their phone.
Twinlab® starts each formulation with full-spectrum hemp-derived CBD, beta-caryophyllene and a wide range of naturally occurring phytocannabinoids from plant sources other than hemp (AKA Phytocab™ Support Blend). All these ingredients work synergistically to create the ‘Entourage Effect’.*
